World Youth Day 2011 is the Catholic World Youth Day , which was held from August 15 to 21, 2011 in Madrid , Spain . According to various estimates, from 1 [1] to 1.5 million [2] participants participated in this Catholic world forum.

Content
History
The festival took place from 15 to 21 August in Madrid and became the next worldwide Catholic youth forum, the previous holiday took place in 2008 in Sydney ( Australia ). The holding of the next World Youth Day in Madrid was announced in Sydney by Pope Benedict XVI .
World Youth Day was held in Spain for the second time. In 1989, Spain hosted the IV World Youth Day , which took place in Santiago de Compostela .
The host of the forum was the Archdiocese of Madrid .
Conduct
The theme of the festival was an excerpt from the Epistle of St. Paul to the Colossians : “Rooted and established in it and strengthened in the faith.” Col. 2: 7 .
Spanish Saints and Blessed John of the Cross , Ignatius of Loyola , Francis Xavier , Isidore of Madrid , Maria Torobia , Rafael Arnais Baron , John of Avila , Teresa of Avila , Rosa Limskaya , and John Paul II were declared the patrons of World Youth Day.

On the morning of August 21, Pope Benedict XVI celebrated a mass at the Quatro Vientos airport, which was attended by the royal couple and more than a million [3] participants in the world youth forum.
Protests
Before the celebration of World Youth Day, many Spanish organizations spoke under the general slogan “Not a peso of my taxes for dad” [4] . In response to this, the organizers of the World Youth Forum announced that the event is financed through donations and the income of the city budget will be from 150 to 250 million euros [5] .
During the celebration of World Youth Day, the Madrid City Council authorized protests. During these demonstrations, protesters clashed with the police. Eleven people, including two police officers, were seriously injured.
Among many participants, there were complaints about the poor supply of drinking water to the participants, the provision of housing and the poor organization of the event.
