Meleokok State has the largest freshwater lake Ngardok in Micronesia with a small population of combed crocodiles . Along the coast of the state rare species of sharks , taken by the government under protection, live. Untouched wildlife and sandy beaches are a good incentive for the development of tourism.
The state population according to the latest census (2005) was 391 people. Of these, 271 people lived in the village of Melekeok . The state also has the villages of Ertong, Ngeburkh, Ngeremekhelukh, Ngermelekh, Ngerubesang, Ngeruling. Residents are engaged in agriculture, fishing, tourism business.
In 2006, the capital of the country was moved to the village of Ngerulmud , built in the same state 2 km from the village of Meleokok.
Governor of the state of Lazarus Codep has a residence in the village of Melekeok .
