Oracle Linux (formerly known as Oracle Enterprise Linux , Unbreakable Linux ) is an open distribution of the Linux operating system , available under the GNU General Public License and free to download through the Oracle Corporation website (after registering with Oracle Software Delivery Cloud). Oracle also provides paid technical support services for organizations using the distribution.

Created on October 25, 2006 based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux [2] [3] , the appearance of the distribution seriously affected the Red Hat stock price , which fell by 28% to $ 14.25 per share [4] [5] , so like actually offering a copy of the distribution from Red Hat, Oracle sets the cost of technical support services on Oracle Linux half as low (from $ 99 per system per year to $ 1199 for an advanced services package that includes legal protection for Linux users) [6] .
On March 22, 2012, Oracle announced that distributions, updates, and Errata for Oracle Linux became available for free, including for commercial use [7] (before this, like Red Hat, updates and fixes were available only to tech support subscribers )
