Etymology

The exact origin of the name cannot be ascertained for certain. There is an assumption that the name passed from the lake, whose name in translation from one of the Finnish dialects means "Father of the waters." It is also possible to derive from the word "Grandfather", which did not mean inherited land from the father or grandfather, but the continuity and antiquity of its possession in one genus. In their official title, the Grand Dukes of Lithuania used the expression Dedich (Polish dziedzic).

Population

The population of the village is 377 inhabitants (2000) [1] .

History

Dedinskaya volost in the XVI-XVII centuries stretched from south to north of Lake. Isza (Iso, Dedino), at the source of the river. Issy (on the eastern shore of the lake was the center of the volost - the village of Dedino), down Issa, its left bank to Lake. Sitno (Zasitino, Zasitino). Occupations: Usovo (Usova, Vusova), Yurkovo-Sladevo (Sladeva, Slyazhevo), Ovinischi (Ovinskova, Ovinki), Dubrova-Barsuki (Badgers). Sitno (Zasitno, Zasitino, Zasitinye) and connecting it with Issa p. Zasitinka. Apparently, and in the XVI century. the Krasnogorsk-Sebezh border in this swampy area (Lidino-Dedino) passed the same lines. Christmas parish, according to the scribe book of Sebezh district in 1668, was located east of Dedinskaya, on the right bank of the river. Issy, to the river Moose. The right bank of Issa is wooded and marshy, sparsely populated in the XVIII century. According to the scribe book of Sebezh district in 1668, populated areas are found much south of the river. Issy: at the lakes Kamenetz, Scriabin and Schuchno. Another populated area of the XVII century. - lower river. Moose. In the frontier strip there are still villages: Lamy (Lom), on the right bank of the river. Issy above the confluence of the river. Losmy, the Repshino wasteland (village Repshina, Repshin - the modern village of Repshino), Midinovo (Midinki, Demidinki, the modern village of Midino), Armonovo (Armanova, the modern village of Armanovo of the Tomsinskaya volost) in its left bank and the wasteland Peresipnya on the river of the same name, already on the border of Sebezh and Opochetsk counties.

In 2005, Dedino lost the status of the center of Dedinsky volost, which was abolished by combining it with the village of Sosnovy Bor into one municipal entity, the urban settlement Sosnovy Bor .
