Biography

Natalya Vasilievna Krandievskaya was born in Moscow on January 21 ( February 2 according to the new style ) in 1888 in a literary family. Her father, a progressive publicist, publisher and journalist Vasily Afanasevich Krandievsky, edited and published in Moscow, together with S. A. Skirmunt, "Bulletins of Literature and Life," and her mother, Anastasia Romanovna (nee Tarkhova), was a famous writer at the beginning of the 20th century, close to the Chekhov direction. In the house of parents social and literary interests prevailed [1] .

Started writing poetry early. Her poems were published in magazines, as well as in collections of 1913 and 1919 and received positive reviews from Bunin , Balmont and Blok and Sofia Parnok .

In 1907-1914 - married to the attorney-at-law Fedor Akimovich Volkenstein . Their son is the physicochemist Fedor Fedorovich Volkenstein (1908-1985).

After returning from exile with Alexei Tolstoy, Krandievskaya-Tolstaya completely departed from literature, although, apparently, she was largely the author of poems in the book “The Golden Key, or The Adventures of Pinocchio ”. [2] After parting with Tolstoy, she returned to poetry and did not leave it for the rest of her life. Late verses by Krandievskaya, including blockades , were published in the 1970s.
