General Information
Donald from the tennis family: his parents - Illon and Donald Sr. - tennis coaches and already in three years for the first time gave his son a racket in his hands, having taught him the simplest lesson of this ball game.
Sports career
He began his professional career in 2004. In junior competitions in 2005, he managed to win the Australian Youth Championship, as well as the doubles junior competitions at the US Open . In the same year, he made his debut in the main draw at the ATP tournament in San Jose , as well as at the Grand Slam Open USA Series tournament . In 2007, he won the first tournament of the ITF Futures series and the first ATP Challenger Series tournament in Aptos . Continuing by age (17 years) to compete in junior competitions this year, managed to win the Wimbledon junior tournament . Having beaten Chris Guccione 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 and passing on the refusal of Mark Gickel in August 2007, he reached the third round of the Grand Slam Open US Championship for the first time. Feliciano Lopez 6-3, 3-6, 6-7 (5), 5-7 blocked him further.
The season of 2008 has already begun as a player of the first hundred in the ATP ranking. In February, he managed to make it to the quarter finals at the Memphis tournament. In March, he entered the third round of the prestigious Indian Wells tennis tournament. In October 2008, he won the ATP Challenger tournament in Sacramento , and in 2009 in Calabasas . In May 2010, he won the Challenger in Carson . In March 2011, at the Indian Wells tournament, he manages to reach the third round, beating Potito Starace 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 and 5th Andy Murray 7- 6 (4), 6-3. In April, he won the fifth title in his career in tournaments from the ATP Challenger Series. This event happened at a tournament in Tallahassee . In Washington in July 2011, he managed to reach the semi-finals at the ATP tournament for the first time. At the 2011 US Open, he outplayed such tennis players as Lukasz Lacko 6-4, 6-2, 6-4, Stanislas Wawrinka 7-6 (7), 3-6, 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (1 ) and Juan Ignacio Chela 7-5, 6-4, 6-3 and reached the fourth round of the tournament, where he lost to Andy Murray 2-6, 3-6, 3-6.
