Career
In 1900 he worked as a sports director at Brentford , after which he became his head coach until 1903 . The first coach (club secretary) in the history of Chelsea football club, after its foundation in 1905 [1] . His contacts in the football world helped the club be elected to the Football League that same year. After the resignation of John Robertson November 27, 1906 , he took the post of secretary-coach of the club. Lewis led Chelsea to First Division in the 1906/07 season , finishing second to Nottingham Forest . After that, he immediately left his post and returned to the secretarial work at the club. He was replaced by David Calderhead .
