Thomas Worren Bennett ( born Thomas Warren Bennett ; February 16, 1831 , Union County, Indiana — February 2, 1893 , Richmond , Indiana) is the fifth governor of Idaho , a delegate to the House of Representatives from the territory.

Biography
Thomas Bennett was born on February 16, 1831 in Union County in Indiana . In 1854 he graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of De Po . The following year, he received the right to practice law in court and did internship in Liberty Township his native district. In 1858, he was elected a member of the state senate , but in 1861 he resigned to take part in a civil war on the side of the Union army . In April 1861, with the rank of captain, he was assigned to the 15th Indiana Infantry Regiment , in August 1862 - to the 69th Infantry Regiment , and in March 1865 he was given the rank of brigadier general . In 1869, Bennett was elected mayor of Richmond, Indiana, and held this position until 1870. The following year, President Grant appointed Bennett Governor of Idaho, the fifth in a row. Bennett was in this position until 1875, after which he was elected an independent candidate to Congress by the Idaho delegate. It later emerged that Stephen Fenn , Bennett’s rival, won more votes in the election [2] . Because of this, Bennett in 1876 was forced to resign from his post. He returned to Richmond, where he continued to practice law and was mayor during the periods of 1877–83. and 1885-1887 February 2, 1893 Thomas Bennett died in Richmond.
