Biography
Robert was born in the city of Kapsabet in western Kenya . He studied at school until 1997 , until he was kicked out due to the inability to pay for tuition. He had to get worse when they kicked him out of the house a few days later. He went to the city of Mosoriot in the hope that his brother, a policeman, would help him, but he could only arrange him as a hairdresser [1] . In June 1999, he enters the Kaptagat Sports Training Camp 13 miles from the city of Eldoret . There, the legendary Moses Tanui becomes his coach and mentor. The first major successes in the international arena came in 2002 .
In 2002, the prestigious Roman Half Marathon and Milan Marathon won. Four-time winner of the world's oldest Boston marathon in 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008. Winner of the 2006 Chicago Marathon . He became the first person in history who managed to win in one year at the Chicago and Boston marathons [2] . In 2006, he finished at the Chicago marathon not quite normally: he slipped at the finish line, fell forward with his feet under the finish tape and hit the back of the head. The finish nevertheless counted. With a brain injury from a fall, he was treated in a hospital. Thanks to this victory, he was able to win the 2006 World Marathon Majors series.
I was able to qualify for the Beijing Olympics for the marathon, but because of an injury, Luc Kibet rode in his place.
As of 2008, he trained in a suburb of Nairobi [3] . Married, has a daughter. In April 2009, he started in the Boston marathon, but left the race and ended up in the hospital. Since then he has not performed.
