Poros ( Greek: Πόρος ^[2] ) is a small town in Greece . Located at an altitude of 35 meters above sea level ^[1] , on the east coast of Kefalonia in the Ionian Sea , 40 kilometers south-east of the administrative center - Argostoli , 28 kilometers south-east of Sami and 12 kilometers north of Skala . It enters the community (dim) of Kefalonia in the peripheral unit of Kefalonia in the periphery of the Ionian Islands ^[2] . The population of 930 inhabitants according to the 2011 census ^[2] .

Poros Community

The community of Poros includes five settlements and the monastery of Iperaiya Theotokos (Blessed Virgin Mary) on Mount Atros. The population of 1176 inhabitants according to the 2011 census ^[2] . The community area is 26.208 square kilometers ^[1] .

Memorial to the Perseus crew

Near Poros is a memorial to the dead crew of the British submarine Perseus .

Transport

By bus and taxi (15 euros), the city is connected with Skala, located 12 kilometers away.

Ferries leave for Peloponnese daily from Poros (1 hour on the way).
