Biography
Concerning the early years of Mattei's discipleship, nothing is known. In 1803, he appeared in Leipzig , played in various theater orchestras and as a soloist, improved his skills under the guidance of the concertmaster of the Gevandhaus Orchestra Bartolomeo Campagnoli , then in 1804 went to Paris to take lessons from Rodolph Kreutzer . Upon returning to Leipzig in 1806 , he successfully performed as a soloist, took the assistant to the accompanist with the same Campagnoli in the Gewandhaus Orchestra, and in the fall of 1808 , when establishing the quartet of the Gewandhaus Campagnoli soloists, he was replaced by the first violin (the cello part in this first composition the quartet was performed by Justus Dotzauer ) [2] . He toured in Germany - in particular, in Berlin and Hamburg. He also led teaching activities - among his students was Carl Traugott Kieisser . In 1818 , Leipzig left for the position of music director Neustrelitz, where he spent the rest of his life.
