The 16th Volleyball Cup of Russia among women's teams was held from April 28 to November 23, 2008 with the participation of 31 teams. For the first time, the Belgorod University-Belogorye won the Cup.

Preliminary Stage
Matches were held in six groups formed according to the territorial principle. In groups the teams played in one circle.
The initially announced Kazan Dynamo and Irkutsk Loko-Angara refused to participate.

Three teams from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th groups and two from the 5th and 6th groups reached the semifinal stage. Dynamo Moscow, according to the regulations, passed into the semifinal stage, regardless of the result at the preliminary stage, since it delegated more than two volleyball players to the Russian national team.
