Broadcasting Center "Turkmenistan"

Television and Radio Broadcasting Center “Turkmenistan” ( Turkmen “Türkmenistan” teleradio merkezi ) is a television and radio communication tower located on one of the Kopetdag mountain ranges, not far from Ashgabat . The height of the tower is 211 meters, which made it the highest architectural structure of Turkmenistan [1] [2] .

Construction History

Construction work began in 2008 . According to the project, the construction of this complex facility was carried out by the Turkish company Polimeks . On October 17, 2011, with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the ceremony of the official opening of a telecommunication facility took place [3] .

Purpose

The main function of the tower is to hold and maintain television and radio communication antennas, but in addition to this, a tourist center with a variety of interesting attractions is also organized here. The coverage radius of the antenna signal is 100 kilometers [4] .

Television and radio broadcasting

At the moment, the tower transmits signals of analog television , digital television and radio [5] . The following stations are clients of tower antennas:

Restaurant

At a height of 145 meters (29th floor), a revolving restaurant is located , in the interior design of which elements of national decor and modern trends in architectural styles have found a combination. From there, you can admire the views of the Turkmen capital and the local natural landscapes, and the rotating platform on which the restaurant is located provides a panoramic view. At an altitude of 140 meters (28th floor) there is a VIP lounge.

Observation Decks

There are two viewing platforms for visitors at the Turkmenistan Broadcasting Center "Turkmenistan" - the main and special observatories, both of which open a 360-degree view. The main observatory is located at an altitude of 150 meters (30th floor), here tourists have a good view of modern Ashgabat , as well as the picturesque expanses of the foothills of Kopetdag .

Illumination and Appearance

The octagonal “ Oguz Khan Star ” decorating the TV tower is recognized as the world's largest architectural image of the star and is included in the Guinness Book of Records [6] [7] . The TV tower is visible from almost anywhere in Ashgabat and its suburbs.
