Moscow Country Club

Moscow Country Club (formerly Le Meridien Moscow Country Club) is a golf club and a country hotel in the Krasnogorsk district of the Moscow region of Russia , north of the village of Nakhabino . It was founded in 1994 . It is a branch of GlavUpDK [1] [2]

History

The club houses Russia's first 18-hole international golf course [3] [4] , built by a Russian company designed by American architects Robert Trent Jones and his son Robert Trent Jones Jr. [1] , who designed more than 600 golf courses in various countries of the world [5] .

The club opened on September 3, 1994. In the same year there was held the first professional tournament in the first 9 holes [5] .

The most important Russian golf competitions are held on the territory of the Moscow Country Club, including the Russian President’s Golf Cup. The famous German football player Franz Bekenbauer entered the Moscow Country Club field in 1999, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi in 2003, Prince Michael of Kent and President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in 2004 [5] .

In 1997, a children's golf academy was created on the club’s territory [5] , from 1997 to 2007, 200 children were trained there.

The club hosts mass and cultural events. In particular, on August 7, 2008, the Moscow radio station Silver Rain celebrated its thirteenth anniversary there [6] .

As of 2009, renting a house (suburban residence) costs from 15,000 to 25,000 euros per month, plus up to 15,000 euros per year for additional costs. There is a waiting list that lists hundreds of people who want to rent a house [7]

July 1, 2009 observer of the newspaper " Izvestia " Dm. Sokolov-Mitrich , who said he spent several days at the club, published a report describing the events unfolding on its territory related to the death of the son of one of the tenants - diplomat Vadim Vasiliev. His 4-year-old son Benjamin fell into an unfenced pond. A 41-year-old nanny, who was trying to save the child, also died [8] . The journalist notes that the child was not provided with timely assistance, criticizes the work of the guards and the management company.

Interesting Facts

  • Former Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov and his wife businessman Elena Baturina visited the club since 2003, in 2007-2008 they visited it almost every Sunday [5]
