Pollino National Park ( Italian: Parco nazionale del Pollino ) is a national park in Basilicata and Calabria in southern Italy . The conservation area is located in the provinces of Cosenza , Matera and Potenza and with a total area of 1820 km² is the largest natural park in the country. It is named after the Pollino massif, which has the highest peak of 2267 meters.

The park was founded in 1992 and the points of interest of the environmental and archaeological positions converged in it. The symbol of the park is the Bosnian pine , which in these places has preserved one of the last growing areas in Italy. Settlements with interesting sights include Rotunda , Castrovillari , Morano Calabro (Monastery of Colloreto), Laino Castello , Mormanno , Scalea , Papazidero , Civita , Cherkiaru di Calabria (Church of Madonna delle Armi). Among the Albanian-speaking communities there are such communes as San Paolo Albanese , San Constantino Albanese and others. In Valle del Mercure, remains of prehistoric animals such as the elephant Palaeoloxodon antiquus and the hippopotamus Hippopotamus major were discovered.
Among the rivers and streams flowing through the reserve, Lao, Sinni , Koszile and Raganello are noted.
Among the various types of trees growing in the park, the most noticeable is white fir , Acer lobelii , European beech , Geldreich pine, black pine , yew berry and others. Wildlife species include golden eagle , Italian wolf , European roe deer , yellow , alpine jackdaws , peregrine falcon , red kite , Mediterranean falcon , Driomys nitedula , common vulture , otters and deer .
