Geography
Ulus is located in the Tunkinskaya valley , 53 km north-east of the district center, the village of Kyren , 10 km south of the foot of the Tunkinsky loaches , at the 20th kilometer of the 03K-033 road Zaktui - Arshan [2] . To the south-west of the Hurai-Khobok there is a lowland on which lie the Koymor lakes .

- Zhambyl Yesheevich Tulaev - Hero of the Soviet Union , sniper of the Great Patriotic War; after the war, he was chairman of the local collective farm and secretary of the Toltoi village council; died in 1961 in Hurai-Hobok; buried in Tagarkhay .
