Biography
Ivan Lubennikov graduated from Moscow Secondary School of Art and the Institute. Surikov in the class of monumental painting (workshop of K. A. Tutevol ). The recognition of the professional community and liberal criticism came to the artist in the early 1980s, thanks to the paintings of the assembly hall of the Trekhgornaya manufactory factory, for which he received one of the Best Work of the Year awards of the RSFSR. For decoration of the exterior and interior of the new railway station in Zvenigorod , now lost by the last reconstruction without the participation of the author, he was awarded the "First Prize of the Moscow Art Theater." [5] .
Paintings by Ivan Lubennikov took pride of place at the Moscow Youth Exhibitions, which was noted by Diplomas.
In the 1990s, the flowering of interest in Soviet art among foreign collectors began. It was then that more than a dozen works by the artist were acquired by the famous German collector of contemporary art Peter Ludwig , who continued to be interested in the work of Lubennikov. Then followed the acquisition of Henry Nannen and others.
The first major personal exhibition of Lubennikov opened in 1987 in the Exhibition Hall on Kashirka. She enjoyed the close attention of the public and professional criticism and almost all went to domestic museums and foreign collections. At the same time, the artist worked a lot in architecture.
In the late 1980s, I. Lubennikov designed and improved the facades of the Moscow Theater on the Taganka with metal structures.
In 1980, he created the Soviet section of the Auschwitz International Museum (together with architect Alexander Skokan).
One of the artist’s largest works in the 1980s was his participation in the creation of the V. Mayakovsky State Museum in Moscow, where he co-authored with E. Amaspyur, A. Volkov , I. Obrosov and others. He embodied many volumetric and spatial compositions from metal and concrete.
Since the early 1990s, there has been a break in work with architecture, caused by the economic problems of the new Russia. During this period, Lubennikov collaborated with foreign galleries: in the United States of America, in France and the Netherlands. His works often form large private collections, for example, the collection of the president of Lurex in Paris.
In parallel, I. Lubennikov teaches at the Moscow Art Theater. V. Surikov and is engaged in public work. In the late 1980s, in the wake of perestroika, he was elected secretary of the USSR Union of Artists, and later, in the late 1990s, he became chairman of the Monumental Artists section of the Ministry of Agriculture. Lubennikov also organizes exhibitions, including the Seventeenth Youth Exhibition of Moscow Artists Union, the exhibition "Illusions and Reality", composed of works by the most respected authors of the Ministry of Agriculture.
In 2005, I. Lubennikov, along with four other artists, designed the Moscow metro stations for three and a half years:
“ Mayakovskaya ” - mosaics on the arch of the northern lobby, marked in 2009 by the International Mayakovsky Prize [6] ), “ Sretensky Boulevard ” - a panel of etched metal, “ Slavyansky Boulevard ” - the interior. Also, Lubennikov created a three-dimensional composition of metal and molded glass “Ryaba Kurochka” , donated to the Paris Metro and placed at Madeleine Station line 14 - [7] .
In March 2012, he was awarded the “Prize of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of culture for 2011” for the design of the Mayakovskaya, Sretensky Boulevard and Slavyansky Boulevard metro stations [8] .
In 2004-2006, I. Lubenikov creates and implements the architectural and artistic concept of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ (architect A. Anisimov, Z. Batrakov), the village of Peredelkino, Moscow Region.
Some of the artist’s easel works are stored in national collections: in the Tretyakov Gallery , the State Russian Museum [9] and numerous regional museums and galleries. Most of the works of I. Lubennikov are in private and museum collections in other countries, many of these works are unknown in Russia.
In October 2011, the first fiction book, a two-volume book, dedicated to the work of I. Lubennikov, was published. The first volume: reproductions of more than two hundred paintings and ten monumental objects. Second volume: fiction and documentary prose by I. Lubennikov. Issued by the publishing house Agey Tomesh / WAM (World Art Museum) with the participation of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications [10] .
In October 2011, Lubennikov was awarded the Order of Friendship . [eleven]
