The palace was located between the temple of the Great Mother and the Roman Forum . Originally, the palace was a modest building that united several houses of the republican period. Under Caligula, the structure was expanded.
In the year 80, during a fire, the domus was destroyed, with the subsequent buildings of Domitian - the Flavian Palace and the Palace of Augustus , only parts of the burnt down Tiberius palace were used, primarily the walls.
In the 16th century, Farnese Gardens were laid out on the site of ruins, which today make it difficult to excavate the palace.
