Eastern or Eastern (,) is one of Hong Kong 's 18 counties . Located in the northeastern part of Hong Kong Island . Includes North Point , Bremar Hill , Quarry Bay , Thaihkusin , Saivanho , Saukeivan , Chhaiwan and Siusaiwan .
Content
History
In the colonial era, the county was known for its fishing villages, shipyards and quarries. Today it is a large residential area with developed trade and a small number of industrial enterprises.
Population
In 2006, 588 thousand people lived in the district, including large communities of Japanese, Koreans, Indians, Pakistanis, Indonesians. Eastern is the third among Hong Kong counties in terms of population (after Sathinh and Kunton ).
Religion
The area is surrounded by temples of Tamkun , Thinhau and Shing-Wong.
