He publishes more than 150 magazines in such areas as video games, technology, automotive , motorcycling , music , etc. [1] Future plc is the publisher of official magazines on the products of the three major manufacturers of game consoles [2] . History
The company was founded in 1985 by Chris Anderson in Somerton ( Somerset ) [4] . The innovation applied by the company was the distribution of free software on a CD pasted on the magazine cover. Future plc is the first organization to use this technique [4] .
Anderson sold Pearson PLC for £ 52.7 million in 1994, but bought it back in 1998 with Future CEO Greg Inham and Apax Venture Partners for £ 142 million [4] . In 2001, Anderson left the company [5] .
Future US
With the advent of Future plc to the American market, the media holding included Anderson- owned GP Publications publishing house , which released the only magazine Game Players [6] , which later functioned as Imagine Media and Future Network USA , and in 2005 received its modern name Future US . The company is headquartered in San Francisco [7] .
The company's initial focus was the publication of game magazines for PCs and consoles , but by the mid-2000s. the spectrum has been expanded. Today Future US prints the following magazines:
