Career

David Farr joined Emerson in 1981. During his career in the corporation, he worked as an investor relations manager, served as vice president of corporate planning and development, president of the Ridge Tool (a division of Emerson ), and vice president of the production group industrial components and equipment for business. He then led Emerson for 4 years in the Asia-Pacific region in Hong Kong and Astec, a joint venture of Emerson Corporation .

In 1997, David Farr returned to St. Louis and became executive vice president of business process control systems at Emerson Corporation . In May 1999, he became senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of the company and held this position until his appointment as CEO in 2000, replacing Charles F. Knight [4] . From November 2005 to October 2010, David Farr also led the corporation as president.
