Name Origin

Initially, the street was designated as Projected Driveway No. 5489 . In 2006, the street was named after Polina Denisovna Osipenko (1907-1939), a pilot , Hero of the Soviet Union , who set five international aviation records for women. Nearby is Grizodubova Street , so a thematic microdistrict is formed here [1] .

In Moscow there are two more streets named after Polina Osipenko [1] : Osipenko Street in South Butovo [2] and Osipenko Street in the Vnukovo district ( Tolstopaltsevo settlement) [3] . Until 1994, Sadovnicheskaya Street was named after Polina Osipenko.
