Etymology
The name Lgar is associated with the ethnonym "Lege" [4] .
Regarding the origin of the name of the village (Lgar + Pirkent), there is a version that in ancient times a man named Suleiman came from Syria , who until old age was pasturing a flock of Lgapirkants. When he died, the villagers prepared a grave and wanted to bury him. Suddenly, from nowhere, pigeons flew in and in front of everyone they took his body to the mountain Shalbuzdag , where the old man was buried (there is one nuance: the phrase “lifer tuhvana” in the Lezgin language means not only “golobi taken”, but also “ the pigeons were escorted, ”that is, the pigeons could simply“ show the way ”, and the phrase“ tukhvana ”eventually began to be perceived as“ taken by air ”). After that, according to the legend, the village was named Lgapirkent, that is, the village where there is a “feast” - the sanctuary. [one]
