History
The village was founded in 1962 on the basis of a stud farm (until 1967 - the First Stavropol Order of the Red Banner of Labor Stud Farm No. 170 [11] ) [12] , the central estate of which at that time was located in the Sredny farm [13] . As the Stavropol local historian P. G. Zakharov notes, the need to create a new settlement arose because of the remoteness of the estate from the main roads of automobile communication, which created certain difficulties in the enterprise's activity [13] . Novokavkazsky was built in the steppe [14] , 7 km from the Caucasian farm (abolished in 1981 [15] ) [16] , where there was another production unit of the stud farm number 170 [13] .
In 1964, a family of workers and office workers arrived in Novokavkazsky for permanent residence. In 1965, the central estate of the enterprise was moved here [13] , then stables were built, and an indoor arena for testing horses in equestrian competitions [17] . The Executive Committee of the Novokavkazsky Village Council of People’s Deputies was also located here (in the 1930s, the executive committee of the Stavropol Village Council of Deputies of the village of the Stavropol Military Horse Factory) [18] .

On February 18, 1992, the Small Council of the Stavropol Territory Council of People’s Deputies decided: “To form in the Aleksandrovsky District the Srednensky Village Council with a center in the Sredny hamlet. To include in the composition of the Srednensky Village Council the hamlets Sredny, Konny, Krasny Chongarets, Ledokhovich, separated from the Novokavkazsky Village Council of the Aleksandrovsky District ” [21] .
