Story
The plot of the film is almost entirely consistent with the plot of the tales " Alice in Wonderland " and " Alice in Through the Looking Glass ".
Creation
The film is completely fiction, with the exception of the Walrus and Carpenter story, created by animators Leon Schlesinger Productions .
Over the course of five months, about seven thousand applicants were auditioned for the role of Alice, among whom was the famous actress Aida Lupino . For the role of the Turtle, Quasi invited Bing Crosby , but he found her "humiliating for his career." Despite the “star” cast, the film failed at the box office, this was due, in particular, to the fact that famous actors and actresses could not be recognized under a thick layer of makeup and bulky costumes [1] .
The original film lasted 90 minutes, but EMKA, Ltd. , who bought the rights to show the tape in the late 1950s, reduced it by 13 minutes. A DVD with the film was released on March 2, 2010 [2] .
