Biography
In 1934 she entered the Leningrad Law Institute (since 1954 - the Faculty of Law of Leningrad, and since 1991 - St. Petersburg State University ). At the end of the institute in 1939 she studied at graduate school. At the same time, she worked at the institute as a criminal procedure teacher, and was engaged in advocacy. At the beginning of World War II in 1941 she was evacuated to Saratov , where she worked at a law school and at an institute. In 1942, she defended her dissertation at Moscow State University (MSU) on the topic “The right of the accused to defense in the Soviet criminal process”, and in 1963, at the Leningrad State University (LSU), her doctoral dissertation on the subject: “The essence of Soviet criminal procedure law ". From 1944 to 1981 she worked at the Faculty of Law of the Leningrad State University - at first as an assistant professor , and from 1965 - as a professor in the department of criminal process and criminalistics . Labor merits of P. S. Elkind were awarded with USSR medals and diplomas [1] .
Scientist
P. S. Elkind maintained regular relations with scientists from Moscow, Leningrad and other scientific centers, took an active part in scientific and practical conferences, symposia and seminars [1] .
Teacher
P.S. Elkind enjoyed great authority not only as a scientist, but also as a teacher, who made a significant contribution to the training and education of scientific and practical workers.

Public figure
PS Elkind gave a lot of strength and energy to public work [1] . Since 1960, she was a member of the methodological council of the regional branch of the Knowledge Society for Legal Sciences, led the faculty bureau of the Knowledge Society, a school of young lawyers, and was an active promoter of legal knowledge [1] .
Proceedings
P. S. Elkind is the author of more than 120 publications, including 10 monographs, written both personally and in collaboration [1] . Her books are a great contribution to the development of the theory of criminal procedure law [1] .
