Sevtopol ( Sevtopolis ) is an ancient Thracian city, the capital of the Kingdom of Odris .
Its ruins are located at the bottom of the Koprinka reservoir in the vicinity of the Bulgarian city of Kazanlak . Discovered by archaeologists in the middle of the 20th century during the construction of a reservoir. Currently, work is underway to turn the ruins into a tourist center.
The city was built in the IV century BC. e. Thracian king Sevt III in honor of the victory over the Macedonians. But already in the III century BC. e. the city was destroyed. The city contained a citadel surrounded by a fortified wall, as well as the royal palace and the market square. Near Sevtopol burials of nobles and ordinary citizens are open. The treasures of the Thracian ruler were also found - a lot of gold jewelry and gold masks, whose age exceeds four thousand years.
