In the mid-30s, Konakher was a member of the Toronto team, which at that time won one Stanley Cup and reached the final six times. For the size, power and zabivaemost him nicknamed "The Big Bomber". Konakher five times became the best sniper of the NHL (goals) and twice the best scorer (goals and assists).

In 1934–1936 he was a member of the first team of all NHL stars, and in 1932 and 1933, he was a second member. In total, he has 225 pucks in NHL matches. From 1947 to 1950 he worked as a coach at the Chicago Blackhawks .

Charlie had two brothers, Lionel and Roy . Both are members of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Charlie himself was introduced to the NHL Hall of Fame in 1961, and later, in 1975, into the Sports Hall of Fame of Canada. In 1998, The Hockey News magazine ranked him 36th in the list of the 100 greatest hockey players .

A year after the death from throat cancer, in memory of the player, the Charlie Konaher Trophy was established, which was awarded to NHL players who showed themselves in public and charitable activities. [2] On the occasion of the presentation of the prize, annual charity dinners were held, at which money was collected for the Charlie Konacher Cancer Research Fund. [3] In 1984, the trophy was abolished and put on public display at the newly built Charlie Konaher Cancer Research Center at Toronto General Hospital. For 17 years, at charity dinners, we managed to raise $ 2 million for research on throat cancer.
