History
The railway line Riga - Jelgava was opened on November 21, 1868. Initially, the line had four stations: Riga, Tornakalns, Olaine and Jelgava. During World War I, the railroad control was transferred to the German army, during which the line was rebuilt to a gauge of 1,435 mm. In Soviet times, the track width was completely transferred to 1,520 mm.
