It is part of the Zalessky rural settlement [1] , in terms of administrative-territorial division - in the Zalessky village council.
Located on the highway A8 . The distance by road to the regional center of Ustyuzhny is 23 km, to the center of the municipality of the village of Maloe Vosnoye - 3 km. The nearest settlements - Vozgriha , Zykovo , Old Small , Big Vosnoye.

History
Borovichi - Ustyuzhna post highway passed through the village
At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, the village administratively belonged to the Zalessky rural community , Malovosnovsky volost, Ustyuzhensky district , and Novgorod province .
The village of Vozgriha also belonged to the Zalessky rural community.
According to the "List of the inhabited places of the Novgorod province for 1911" Zalesie village is the most populous settlement in the parish. In the village there were 62 courtyards occupied by the buildings, on which there were 104 residential buildings. Residents of both sexes - 332 people (men - 153, women - 179). The main occupation of the inhabitants is agriculture, an auxiliary occupation is latrine earnings. The nearest body of water is a pond. In the village there was a volost government, a post office and a station (the chief was Osnitsky Mikhail Alekseevich), a zemstvo horse station (9 horses), a forge, a small shop, 2 sheepskin establishments, a bread store and a credit partnership.
At the post office in 1904, a library was opened to them. Nekrasov, in which there were 972 books. In 1914 - 996 books, the head - Anna Sakharova.
Demographics
According to the 2002 census, the population is 97 people (46 men, 51 women). The predominant nationality is Russian (99%) [2] .
