Pankratiy (Kasperuk)

Archbishop Pankraty (in the world Peter Iosifovich Kashperuk ; November 24, 1890 , Shepetovka market town, Zaslavsky district , Volyn province - July 13, 1972 , Rivne ) - bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church , archbishop of Volyn and Rivne .

Biography

Born on November 24, 1890 in the village of Shepetivka, Zaslavsky Uyezd (now Kamenetz-Podolsk Region , Ukraine ).

In 1908 he graduated from the 2nd class school in Shepetovka.

In 1910 he entered as a novice in the Pochaev-Uspensky Lavra .

On June 21, 1914, he was tonsured a monk by the governor of the Lavra, Archimandrite Paisius, with the name Pankraty .

In 1918, he was ordained hierodeacon by the Archbishop of Volyn and Zhytomyr Eulogius (St. George) .

In 1921 he was ordained hieromonk by Archbishop Dremenisy of Kremenets (Waledinsky) .

In 1921 he entered the Kremenets Theological Seminary to study the theological sciences (2-year course).

In 1924 he was appointed a member of the Spiritual Council of the Pochaev Lavra.

From 1924 to 1939 - the law teacher of the seven-grade school in Pochaev .

In 1935, he was elevated to the rank of Archimandrite by Metropolitan of Warsaw Dionysius (Waledinsky) .

From 1942 to 1944 - head of pastoral courses at the Pochaev Lavra .

From 1943 to 1946 - Viceroy of the Pochaev Lavra .

In 1945 he was a member of the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church .

On April 6, 1946, by decree of the Patriarch of Moscow, Alexy was appointed bishop of the Kamenetz-Podolsk diocese .

On April 28, 1946, he was consecrated bishop of Kamenetz-Podolsky and Proskurovsky. The ordinances were performed by: Exarch of All Ukraine, Metropolitan John (Sokolov) , Bishop Nukor Mukachevsky (Sidoruk) and Bishop Boris of Chernigov (Vic) .

Since June 3, 1948 - Bishop of Volyn and Rivne .

November 15, 1952 he was appointed bishop of the Lviv and Ternopil diocese , with the elevation to the rank of archbishop .

Since July 23, 1956 - Archbishop of Volyn and Rivne.

Since July 19, 1962 he was fired to retire. He lived in the city of Rivne .

On November 16, 1962 he was appointed Archbishop of Chernigov and Nezhinsky , temporarily managing the Sumy Diocese , but on November 20 of the same year, the appointment was canceled due to illness.

He died at 5 a.m. on July 13, 1972 in Rivne. He was buried in the fraternal cemetery of the Pochaev Lavra.
