Description
Tower WGME height of 493.47 [1] or 495.1 [2] meters is designed to transmit radio and television signal , and erected in Raymonda in 1959. It was the highest architectural structure in the world at the time. The height record was surpassed in 1960. Nevertheless, the WGME-TV tower remained the tallest structure in Maine until the construction of the WMTW tower in 2002. This station stopped broadcasting an analog television signal on February 17, 2009, and conducts digital transmissions only on channel 38.
