Morgan Scott Peck ( born Morgan Scott Peck ; May 23, 1936 , New York - September 25, 2005 , Connecticut ) is an outstanding American psychiatrist , publicist and author of many best-selling books .

Biography
Peck was born in New York . His parents sent him to a prestigious boarding school in Exeter. At the age of 15, in his third year, he refused to return to school, then his parents turned to a psychoanalyst, he was diagnosed with depression and was recommended to stay in a psychiatric hospital for a month. He graduated from high school in 1954 , after which he received a bachelor's degree from Harvard University in 1958 and a doctorate in medicine in 1958. He served in the army and rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel, engaged in psychiatric activities in government bodies. Peck died at his home in Connecticut on September 25, 2005 , from Parkinson's disease and pancreatic disease.
