Three Preludes and Fugues for Organ Op. 7 - the work of Marcel Dupree , written in 1911 - 1912 .
Work on all three parts was completed by the composer in Rouen , where he also performed them privately; then private performances in Paris followed. Moreover, in the circle of fellow organists, there was an opinion about the exceptional technical complexity of Dupre's work, which makes its publication practically meaningless. In 1917 , the author successfully performed all three preludes and fugues in public. The work was first published in 1920 , when published, each of the three parts received a dedication in memory of fellow organists: Rene Verna , Augustin Barrier and Joseph Bulnua, respectively .
The composition of the work as a whole is based on the contrast between the solemnity of the first prelude and fugue ( in C major ), the pacification of the second ( F minor ) and the liveliness of the third ( G minor ). Nevertheless, from Dupre himself there is a tradition of performing the numbers separately (Dupre preferred the prelude and fugue No. 3 in G minor, regularly performing in encore concerts).
