Biography
In 1963 he graduated from Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (KPI).
In 1979 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of chemical sciences .
In 1963 , at the end of the KPI, he began working at the Ionava Nitrogen Fertilizer Plant - foreman, shift manager, production department head , and chief engineer .
Since 1986 - General Director of the state-owned enterprise Azotas .
In 1990 , participated in the signing of the Act on the Restoration of Independence of Lithuania .
In 1991-1992. He was vice-premier, in 1992-93 - Prime Minister of Lithuania.
In 1994 became president of the Achema group chemical concern and president of the KLASKO stevedoring company. He was president of the Confederation of Industrialists of Lithuania .
In 2000 he became an honorary doctor of Klaipeda University .
Died of a heart attack while cycling .
