History
The film was shot by aspiring directors in a small studio. Work on the film took two years. The producer Michael Rose handed the idea to film the book to Jacob Schuh in the summer of 2003 . Despite the fact that for the half-hour movie there were few dialogs in the book, it was decided not to amend or supplement the text, since in many countries the children already knew it by heart. Only in order to introduce the figure of the narrator, a small “frame” construction was needed, in which Squirrel appears [1] .
The film premiered on Christmas Day , December 25, 2009, on the BBC One channel. The first screening of the film attracted an audience of 8.8 million viewers. [2]
In the United States, the film was screened at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in August 2010; The premiere of the film on television took place on December 9, 2010 on the ABC Family channel , also during the Christmas program cycle. In Germany, the film was shown on December 24, 2010. In the same year, in Yerevan at the ReAnimania Film Festival 2010, the film was honored with a special mention by the jury in the nomination “Best Short Film”. In France, the film was screened in 2011 at the Lama Film Festival ( Upper Corsica ) and at the Fantastic Film Festival in Strasbourg [3] .
Story
The role of the storyteller of the story about the cunning Mouse is Squirrel. At the beginning of the film, she barely escapes the attack of an owl and, at the request of her two worried squirrels, tells them the story of how the Little Mouse overcame fear and escaped from its enemies.
A little mouse walked through the forest in search of a nut. On the way, he took turns meeting the Fox, the Owl, and the Snake, each of whom invited him to visit, where he was actually going to eat the Little Mouse. However, the Mouse got out of the situation, telling everyone that he had already made an appointment with the terrible and formidable beast of Gruffalo. Rejoicing that the stupid beasts believed his invention of a non-existent monster, the Mouse then meets Gruffalo himself, who turned out to be exactly as he fantasized. So that now Griffalo does not eat it, the Little Mouse impersonates the most terrible beast in the forest - together with Gruffalo he again meets the Snake, Owl and Fox, who hide in horror. After making sure that the Mouse is afraid of everything, Gruffalo decides to escape while he is alive. A little mouse is taken for a delicious nut.
After the story, Squirrel and squirrel also get a nut, which Squirrel dropped near the hollow, hiding from an owl.
