Biography
Born and raised in with. The district near Mstislavl. Since childhood, he was friends with the future historian D.P. Makovsky (1899-1970).
Since 1924 he worked at the Moscow Mining Academy , which he graduated in 1926.
In 1926-1930 he worked in the USSR Oil Refinery and at the Baku Oil Refinery.
Since 1930, he worked at the Moscow Petroleum Institute, MINH and GP, where he actively participated in the organization of the Faculty of Technology and the Department of Technology and Oil and Gas Processing.
In the 1930s, he was the head of the technological department of the design and research bureau at the Moscow Research Institute. THEM. Gubkin; in 1930-1941 and 1949-1950 - dean of the faculty.
In 1941-1943 he was at the front, he served in the army.
In 1930-1968 (with a military break) - head of the department of oil and gas processing technology.
In 1963-1968 - the head of the industry bitumen laboratory.
He was buried at the Don cemetery in Moscow.
Scientific and production activities
I. L. Gurevich is the author and co-author of more than 70 publications, including the first textbook on the course of oil technology Introduction to oil technology (1935); textbook Oil Technology (1940); General properties and primary distillation of oil (1972, 3rd edition).
Under the direct supervision of I.L. Gurevich, a pilot industrial installation of road bitumen was built and commissioned at the Moscow Oil Refinery (MNPZ) (1967).
Under his leadership, 25 candidates of sciences were trained, including 10 - foreign specialists from Bulgaria , Romania , China , India , and Arab countries.

For many years of training in higher education, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor , the Badge of Honor (1945), and medals.
