Wheel ( Paddle ) is an analogue game controller used in early video game systems such as Pong . It is a plastic case with a variable resistor installed inside it, equipped with a decorative handle. Game control is carried out by turning the knob. Thus, you can move the object on the screen along one axis (in two directions) - for example, a racket in tennis. It may also have buttons for performing some additional actions.
Such controllers were used in the 1970s and almost disappeared by the mid-1980s, being replaced by more convenient joysticks .
In the Soviet Union, they came bundled with computer classes " Agat " (analogue of Apple II ) under the name "analogue remote control", as well as a set of domestic Pong-type gaming systems .
