Area 1409.95 km². The main rivers are Vyatka, Tansy , Bokovaya , Shuvan
History
Arbazhsky district was formed in 1929 as part of the Kotelnichesky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region . It included 29 village councils of the former Arbazh, Verkhotul, Sorvizh, Chistopol, and Shembet volosts of the Kotelnich district of the Vyatka province . Since 1934, the district is part of the Kirov region , since 1936 - the Kirov region . On the basis of a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR of February 1, 1963, the Arbazhsky District was abolished as part of 18 village councils, its territory became part of the Soviet District .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR of April 19, 1965, the Arbazhsky district was restored. The territory with a land area of 121034 hectares was returned, on which there were 9 village councils: Arbazhsky , Verkhotulsky , Korminsky , Kislyakovsky, Mosunovsky, Roevsky, Sorvizhsky , Sharanitsky , Shembetsky . 268 settlements with 5 collective farms and a population of 18,598 were returned. As of January 1, 1969, there were 13 village councils, and 13 state and collective farms.
Since January 1, 2006, according to the Law of the Kirov Region dated December 7, 2004 No. 284-ЗО [4] , 5 municipalities were formed in the district: 1 urban settlement and 4 rural settlements.
