Biography
Born in St. Petersburg in the Estonian family. Member of the RSDLP since 1905 . Repeatedly arrested. In 1914 he was exiled to Samara . He worked as a typesetter in the printing. After some time, he became one of the leaders of the Samara Bolshevik organization.
In January 1915, he was arrested and exiled to the Irkutsk province for 5 years. After the February Revolution he returned to Samara. After the proclamation of Soviet power in Samara, he was a press commissioner. From March 1918 he went to work in Gubsovnarhoz.
When the White Guards captured Samara in June 1918 , it was underground . In August 1918 he was elected chairman of the temporary Samara Provincial Committee of the RCP (b) , which was located in Pokrovsk ( Engels ). After the liberation of Samara from the White Guards in October 1918, he became the head of the Gubovnarhoz .
In January 1919, as commissar of the 4th Army of the Eastern Front, he went to the front. January 20, 1919 at the station Ozinki was killed by the White Guards.
Buried in Samara.
