Finds were made in the foothills of the Andes in 1996 . Classifying the ancient lizard, scientists placed it at the "roots" of the evolutionary tree of theropod dinosaurs. The total body length of the animal, according to scientists, is 1.2 m, and the mass of an adult reached 5 kg. The study of E. murphi forced paleontologists to reconsider their views on the classification of the eoraptor , offering to place it in a group of sauropodomorphs , referring to certain details of its structure (for example, enlarged nostrils) characteristic of this group [2] .
