Deutz AG ( [ˈdːo‿et͡s] ) is a German manufacturer of gas and diesel engines . From 1936 to 1974, the company included the Magirus company, which produced trucks and buses under the brand name Magirus-Deutz. Cars of the Magirus-Deutz 232 D 19 model were supplied to the USSR, worked on the construction of the BAM .

Based on its own engines, a subsidiary of Deutz Power Systems GmbH produced power plants with unit capacities from 4 to 4000 kW. In 2008, the plant in Mannheim was returned the name that it bore before it was integrated into the Deutz AG group of companies in 1985. [2] In October 2010, MWM GmbH (Motorenwerke Mannheim) was acquired from Deutz AG by Caterpillar [3] [4] .
In the framework of cooperation with Russian enterprises at the Gorky Automobile Plant since 1992, the GAZ-542 engine [5] was produced (installed on GAZ-4301 cars).
