Dragon's lair

Dragon's Lair (from the English - “ Dragon's Lair ”) is a computer game originally released in the form of a slot machine by Cinematronics in 1983 [2] . The machine used LaserDisc to play animations created by Don Bluth , a former animator at Walt Disney .

Most games of the time used sprite sets to implement character movement. Hardware limitations did not allow artists to achieve the necessary resolution and smooth animation - the lack of long-term memory forced to reduce the number of stored sprites and their size, which led to a decrease in the quality of the video image. Dragon's Lair circumvented these limitations by using LaserDisc, which provided sufficient storage volumes for graphic information [3] . The success of the slot machine led to the appearance of many ported versions, sequels and related games, as well as the release in 1984 of the 13-episode animated series [4] .
