History
The Government of the Russian Federation in 1990 decided to build a monument to I. A. Bunin. The monument was authored by sculptor Alexander Burganov , professor at the Moscow State Art and Industry Academy named after S. G. Stroganov, and the granite pedestal was designed by a group of Voronezh architects (V. A. Afonin, N. S. Topoev and V. Yu. Levin). The monument was donated to the city from the Voronezh Bank.
The monument was erected on October 13, 1995 in Voronezh in the square, which was called "Buninsky", in honor of the 125th anniversary of his birth.
The poet is depicted at the hour of parting with Russia. The poet sits on a fallen tree, his pose symbolizes anxiety and hope. Next to him on the tree is an open book. A dog is clinging to Bunin’s feet - a symbol of the foregoing nobility, symbolizing loneliness [1] .
In September 2010, the pedestal of the monument was repaired [2] .
