History

It was formed as a result of mergers and purchases between 1997 and 2000 of banks in Sweden , Finland , Denmark and Norway (Nordbanken, Merita Bank, Unibank and Christiania Bank). Since the mid-2000s, subsidiary banks have been created in the Baltic countries , Poland and Russia . According to the rating of The Global Finance magazine, in 2011 Nordea Bank took 32nd place among the 50 largest banks in the world. [4] .

Activities

The Nordea banking network includes more than 1,400 branches and representative offices in 19 countries. The group serves 11 million private [5] and 700,000 corporate clients. Corporate banking branches operate in Germany (Frankfurt), Great Britain (London), Singapore , China (Shanghai) [6] and the USA (New York). The headquarters of international private banking is located in Luxembourg , with branches in Belgium (Brussels), France (Cannes), Luxembourg, Spain ( Fuengirola and Malaga ), Switzerland (Zurich). 5.9 million customers use Internet banking and make more than 560 million payments annually.

Since 2007, supports Chip Authentication Program technology. [7] [8]
