Biography

Stig Dalager was born in the post-war period of the 50s - during painful memories of World War II , ongoing restrictions of an economic nature and growing optimism about the future. His parents were grocery shopkeepers throughout the 1950s and 60s, until his father was struck by Parkinson's disease . Together with his parents and two younger brothers, he moved to the provincial town of Herning in Jutland , where his father felt better. There Stig graduated from high school, after which he studied at the University of Aarhus , receiving in his walls a doctorate in comparative literature .

Literary work

In 1982 he graduated from the University of Copenhagen to subsequently become a writer. To date, he has written more than 40 books of various genres, including poetry, science fiction, drama and essays, which made him one of the most creative and respected writers in Denmark. His works were translated into many languages, including Russian, and his plays were staged in theaters of Moscow , Berlin , Rome , New York and others [1] .

In his works, Dalager focuses on the existential aspects of the existence of an ordinary person, the experience of reappraising values in various life situations. The gallery of his literary heroes is extremely vast: a Jewish boy in the abyss of the Holocaust [2] ; Hitler and Count Stauffenberg during the famous "Conspiracy of Generals" [3] ; Danish storyteller Hans Christian Andersen [4] and others.
