Taphrina confusa is a species of mushrooms of the Taphrina genus of the Ascomycota department, a parasite of trees and shrubs of the Prunus genus. It affects flowers and fruits, causes the formation of "pockets".

As a result of the defeat of the flowers and fruits of the plant, the seeds do not develop, in their place there are cavities inside the deformed fruits - “pockets”.
Mycelium is intercellular, perennial.
The marsupial layer (“ hymenia ”) has the appearance of a mealy, wax-like plaque, develops on the surface of affected fruit and parts of flowers.
Aski are eight-spore, club-shaped, with a rounded apex, 23–53 × 7–13 µm in size. The basal cells ( see Tafrin article ) of various shapes and sizes, 6–27 × 5–13 µm.
Ascospores are rounded, 4–7 × 3.5–6 µm in size.
The typical host is Prunus virginiana . Taphrina confusa is common in North America , and also known in Europe - in Finland and Switzerland , on the bird cherry Virginskaya and Prunus alabamensis .
