Biography
Born in Lapland in the family of a small farmer. Has an agricultural education.
Government consultant on agrarian issues and secretary of the cabinet of ministers of the province of Lapland in 1938-1941 and 1944-1945, farmer in 1941-1944, secretary of the Agrarian Party in 1946-1950.
Member of Parliament from the Agrarian Party in 1945 - 1958 . Member of the Presidential Electoral College in 1950 and 1956.
In 1958 - 1973 the governor of Lappi .
For a long time it was considered the right hand of W.K. Kekkonen .

- 1951-1953, 1956-1957, August-November 1958, 1968-1970 - Agriculture,
- May-October 1954 - Finance,
- July-November 1957 - Chancellor of the Treasury.
