Khakass Drama Theater named after A.M. Topanov

The theater was established in 1931. Khakass poet and playwright Alexander Mikhailovich Topanov became the artistic director. In 1954, the theater was combined with the Russian Drama Theater. M. Yu. Lermontov. In 1991, the theater again gained independence. In 1996, it received the status of a national theater; in 2001, the theater was named after AM Topanov .

Currently, performances are played in Russian and Khakass languages . The theater was awarded with prizes of the Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR (“Abakhai Buttermilk” based on the play by A. Chapray, staged by S. Verkhgradsky, 1990), the International Festival of Turkic-speaking theaters “Tuganlyk” in Ufa (“Love of Genghis Khan” K. Chaco, nomination “For the peculiarity of the plastic solution” ”, 1996), diplomas of the International Theater Festival of Turkic Peoples“ Nauruz ”in Kazan (“ Tear of Fire ”K. Chako, 1998), took part in the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the Kyrgyz epos“ Manas ”, a participant in the International Festival“ Aitmatov and Theater ”in Bishkek (“Enesai” according to C. Aitmatov, 1999), III w orld Theater Olympics in Moscow (2001), the International Theater Festival of Turkic peoples "Newroz" in Kazan (2002), the V Inter-regional festival "Siberian Transit" in Krasnoyarsk (2005). A regular guest of the regional festival "Theater Spring" in Krasnoyarsk. Recently toured in Finland (1999) and Mongolia (2000).

• Dordgin, Sangadzhi-Garya Odzhakaevich (1908-1946) - Kalmyk composer, Honored Artist of the Kalmyk ASSR . He was exiled during the deportation of the Kalmyk people to Abakan and worked in the theater from December 1943 to September 1946.
