Cheboksary district

It is located in the northern part of the Chuvash Republic and borders the Mari El Republic in the north ( Kilemar and Zvenigov districts), in the east with the Marposad district , in the south - Tsivilsky and Krasnoarmeysky , in the west - Morgaushsky regions of the Chuvash Republic.

The territory of the district is 1331.7 km², which makes up more than 7% of the republic’s area. The area is divided by the Volga River into two unequal parts: the northern Trans-Volga and the southern right-bank. There is Izyar Lake in the area.

The district was formed on September 5, 1927 . During its formation, the territory included the territory of the Cheboksary volost and other volosts of the Cheboksary district . By a decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee on May 27, 1932, the district center was moved from the city of Cheboksary to the village of Kugesi.

National composition

According to the 2010 census, the population of the Cheboksary district is largely dominated by the Chuvash (90%), Russians live in the villages of Kugesi and Syukterka .

The climate of the Cheboksary region is temperate continental with long cold winters and warm, sometimes hot summers. The average temperatures in January are −13 ° C, July 19 ° C. The area belongs to the zone of sufficient but unsustainable moisture. On average, more than 500 mm of precipitation falls annually, the maximum of which falls in July.

The Volga River flows through the territory of the Cheboksary district, forming here the Cheboksary reservoir due to the backwater of the Cheboksary hydroelectric dam.

The prevailing types of soils are sod-podzolic, podzolic, in the Volga region - sandy, sandy and marsh. The forest cover of the region is about 30%, the forest cover of the Volga region is 67%. Pine forests predominate in the forests of the Volga region; the main forest-forming species of the right-bank part are oak , maple , linden , aspen . Due to its proximity to large industrial centers, the Cheboksary district is developing suburban highly efficient agriculture, providing the population with potatoes , vegetables, fruits, berries, milk , butter , and eggs . The area has high agricultural development, which makes up 87% of the territory. Arable land accounts for 76% of agricultural land. The area specializes in meat and dairy farming with developed poultry , pig breeding , and the production of grain, potatoes , and vegetables.

The basis of the transport network is the Krasny Uzel – Kanash – Cheboksary railway , and the motorway Nizhny Novgorod – Cheboksary – Kazan ; " Cheboksary - Tsivilsk - Ulyanovsk - Syzran ." The main waterway is the Volga River.
